Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator will be a part of the thunder::tech Communications Department. The Communications Department develops and executes communications strategies in the areas of social media, performance marketing, content and public relations. The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Performance Marketing, Content & Social Media Teams on client projects and will report to the Director of Communications. This can be an entry-level position and is ideal for someone at the very beginning of their career.

Location: Cleveland-Akron area with the ability to be in the office two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday required).

 

Key Responsibilities:

Data Compilation and Report Production

  • Gather and compile performance data for all social media and performance marketing clients via reporting tools (Brandwatch, Agency Analytics, etc.)
  • Accurately input data into standardized reporting templates and provide a high-level summary of the results for the account lead.
  • Manage the logistics of the reporting cycle, ensuring accurate and timely delivery and proper formatting of routine reports.
  • Maintain organized files and documentation related to report history.

Communications Outreach & Reputation Management

  • Respond to user comments, direct messages and track general sentiment across multiple social media channels on behalf of clients.
  • Conduct monitoring and listening across social media channels and review platforms like Google, Yelp, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, TripAdvisor, etc.  
  • Support the maintenance and accuracy of client directory listings on platforms like Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc.
  • Assist in drafting and responding to reviews on behalf of clients. 
  • Coordinate outreach on behalf of clients for press release distribution. 
  • Research and identify speaking engagements and industry awards for submission on behalf of thunder::tech. 
  • Assist with soliciting and coordinating reviews from thunder::tech clients on review platforms for internal marketing use. 

Social Media Content Support & Research

  • Assist in writing social media post copy for a variety of clients and industries. 
  • Conduct research on social media trends, new social media platform features, algorithm changes and best practices to inform the team’s strategies.
  • Research and compile social media trend reports for the Social Media Team and clients.
  • Provide logistical assistance for social media content shoots, including organizing and securing equipment and coordinating on-site needs. 

Content Optimization & Research

  • Assist with SEO/AEO keyword and topic research for clients and thunder::tech.
  • Write alt text and meta titles and descriptions for clients and thunder::tech, based on provided guidelines. 

Influencer Marketing Outreach & Coordination

  • Assist with influencer communication, including pitching and the initial stages of outreach efforts.
  • Provide logistical support for coordinating influencer participation in various client campaigns, ensuring timely execution and delivery of content.

 

Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field (or currently pursuing/recent graduate). 
  • Familiar with major social media platforms, including Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to quickly learn digital reporting tools, including Brandwatch, Agency Analytics, etc.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for grammar and tone.
  • Ability to conduct thorough research, accurately summarize complex information and cite sources when compiling reports or trend documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with a proactive approach to identifying and solving routine challenges.
  • Open to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Desire to continually learn and iterate to improve overall work. 

 

Nice-to-haves:

  • Prior experience or internships in a corporate communications or marketing agency setting.
  • Experience with Canva.
  • Experience or coursework related to PR/media outreach. 
  • Certifications in social media or digital marketing.
