Application Developer (.NET Core), Tier 1
The Application Developer (.NET Core), Tier 1 plays a key role in designing, building and maintaining scalable back-end systems and APIs for client applications. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys working with modern Microsoft technologies to create secure, high-performing solutions while collaborating across teams. You’ll contribute to projects from concept through launch, helping deliver reliable and maintainable digital experiences.
The Application Developer (.NET Core), Tier 1 will be a part of the thunder::tech Development Department. The Development Department is responsible for day-to-day project production and is composed of four teams: application development, front-end development, digital support and systems operations (sysops). The Application Developer will work closely with front-end developers, designers and SysOps teams on client projects and will report to the Senior Director of Development.
Location: Cleveland-Akron area with the ability to be in the office two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Application Development & Engineering
- Design, develop and maintain applications and APIs using .NET Core / .NET.
- Build, extend and support CMS-driven and custom web applications.
- Write clean, object-oriented, testable and maintainable code.
- Design, manage and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases, including schema and stored procedures.
Collaboration & Project Delivery
- Collaborate with front-end developers, designers and sysops to deliver complete, integrated solutions.
- Assess technical requirements and contribute to project scope, timelines and estimates.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions and technical planning.
- Provide ongoing project status updates to internal teams and management.
Architecture & Technical Strategy
- Present back-end architecture and implementation details to internal teams and clients as needed.
- Contribute to building scalable, secure and maintainable systems.
- Stay current with evolving Microsoft technologies, web development trends and cloud platforms.
Qualifications:
Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of professional experience developing applications using Microsoft web technologies.
- Experience building APIs and server-side applications in a professional setting.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with .NET Core / .NET and C#.
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design and performance optimization.
- Experience developing APIs and CMS-driven web applications.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and application architecture.
- Experience with CMS platforms such as Kentico, Sitefinity or Sitecore.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio and Git-based source control.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on writing high-quality, maintainable code.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to learning and improvement.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working in an agency or client-service environment.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and modern deployment practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
- Experience contributing to system architecture or technical design discussions.
This position provides a market-competitive base salary between $65,000 and $75,000, with the final amount determined by the candidates' experience and qualifications.
