Our Optimization Specialists are strategists, advertisers, analysts, number crunchers, researchers and communicators. We’re integrated into the Communications Department with social media, marketing automation, influencer marketing and email services, but we work with the entire agency on a daily basis.

A Day in the Life of the Digital Marketing Specialist
The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for a variety of tasks outside of day-to-day client responsibilities. From coordinating team efforts and processes to writing potential client scopes of work, the Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for ensuring the team operates efficiently and effectively. Additionally, this role works closely with the Communications Department Manager to manage team member workloads, client assignments, onboarding, process documents and new tool integrations or selections.
Outside of Lead responsibilities, projects for an Digital Marketing Specialist at thunder::tech can vary from website redesigns to running pay-per-click campaigns to coordinating with social media advertising and media buying plans. Daily checks are performed on client’s PPC campaigns to ensure they are running smoothly. Web projects require manual optimization of content and webpages as well as installation of Google Analytics/Tag Manager. These can range from a day’s project to spread out over the course of months. Reporting, interpreting and analyzing are a large deliverable for clients at the beginning of each month and help propel new business initiatives.
Communicating to the client (which can also be your teammates!) in an easy-to-understand way is crucial to success and further growth. One-off requests, consultations or troubleshooting for websites or Google accounts can disrupt a planned day; therefore, Optimization team members need to be flexible when problems arise and calm under pressure (don’t worry, we have a desk punching bag for those unlucky days).

Role Details:
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Communications or Marketing
  • Experience leading a team, department or sizeable initiative with proof points on how your management style was effective
  • Experience collaborating with different areas of a business or different teams outside of your own thought leadership
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentations skills
  • Understanding of basic HTML and CSS language
  • Strategic and forward-thinking for the benefit of clients and the team
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels within the company
  • Possesses a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results and strengthen relationships
  • Proven success of a past endeavor based on user behavior, data, analyzation and strategic suggestions
  • Install, work in and leverage the following tools:
    • Google Analytics
    • Google AdWords
    • Bing Ads
    • Google Tag Manager
    • Google Data Studio
    • Google / Bing Webmaster Tools
    • Google My Business
    • Other analytics tools such as DoubleClick, SEM Rush, Ahrefs, Heat Mapping Software, etc.
    • Understanding of social media advertising platforms is a bonus
  • Research, analyze and make recommendations based user behavior and data
  • Become familiar and acquainted with clients’ businesses and industries
  • Stay up-to-date on optimization trends and distribute that knowledge to the team
  • Prioritize and manage a monthly schedule with clients
