Diebold builds and powers the technology and machinery that keep transactions moving, from retail self-checkout systems to drive-through ATMs. But while their software kept advancing, their website couldn’t keep up.
With massive amounts of highly specialized content and multiple audiences searching for very different things, the previous site left users digging through pages in search of the right information. Customers, prospects and partners struggled to find what they needed, so Diebold turned to thunder::tech to build an insights center with a user experience any visitor could navigate.
UX research confirmed the pain points: navigation friction, a tangled content structure and a slacking search function were bogging down the site. The thunder::tech team transformed Diebold’s complex business ecosystem into a streamlined, intuitive digital experience. The strategy combined research‑driven decision‑making with smart UX design to create an insights center that guides users to the information they’re looking for.
We conducted in‑depth interviews, built wireframes, iterated mockups and mapped how each audience sought content. From there, we overhauled the site architecture and refactored templates to support clarity, consistency and long-term scalability.
What started as a basic search box evolved into a powerful discovery tool—tailored to the magnitude and specificity of Diebold’s content. Now users can surface the information that matters to them, faster and more intuitively.
The robust reengineered search experience took Diebold’s digital ecosystem from cluttered and confusing to intuitive and efficient. Content that once felt buried or disjointed is now organized, accessible and aligned to audience intent.
After launch, Diebold’s site experienced a massive leap in discoverability, with crawled pages skyrocketing from under 1,000 to nearly 10,000 by December 2024. That momentum held strong and climbed to roughly 12,000 by September 2025, proving the updates weren’t just effective but stable.
Traffic quality surged as well. Average visits per page jumped from about 20 in 2024 to 100+ by September 2025—a 5x increase in under a year.
In short: the new insights center didn’t just help people find content. It helped search engines find it, audiences engage with it and Diebold’s digital ecosystem finally operate as intelligently as the technology they build.
